ALL GOOD IN LA
Two games into the 2024 World Series, the Los Angeles Dodgers are two wins away from a title.
Ohtani exited late in Game 2, appearing to injure his shoulder during a stolen-base attempt, leaving fans concerned as he rolled on the ground clutching his left arm before heading to the clubhouse.
This incident overshadowed an impressive performance from pitcher Yoshinobu Yamamoto, who needed only 86 pitches to dominate the Yankees for 6⅓ innings, striking out Aaron Judge twice and allowing just one hit and two walks, with his only mistake being a home run by Juan Soto.
The Dodgers' offense backed Yamamoto well, with Freddie Freeman hitting a home run in the third inning, earning multiple standing ovations, and Teoscar Hernandez and Tommy Edman also contributing with home runs.
The team now holds a 2-0 series lead, shifting to New York for Game 3 on Monday.
Meanwhile, the Yankees are struggling, particularly with Aaron Judge, who went 0-for-4 with three strikeouts in Game 2.
Judge's postseason performance has been dismal, with a batting average of .150 and 19 strikeouts across the postseason.
The Yankees' chances hinge on Judge regaining his form, as they cannot afford to rely solely on contributions from Giancarlo Stanton and Juan Soto.
As the Dodgers celebrate their lead, they remain concerned about Ohtani's condition. Manager Dave Roberts noted it was a shoulder subluxation.
HOLLOWAY KO’D
Topuria knocks out Max Holloway on Saturday, becoming the first person to do so in Holloway's illustrious career.
In a historic victory at UFC 308, Ilia Topuria, the UFC featherweight champion, became the first fighter to knock out Max Holloway, delivering a stunning performance in Abu Dhabi.
Topuria (16-0) finished Holloway (26-8) with a left hook followed by hammerfists at 1:34 of the third round, marking Topuria's first title defense after winning the belt with a knockout of Alexander Volkanovski in February.
"I couldn't believe it," Topuria expressed, acknowledging Holloway's legendary status and the inspiration he provided throughout Topuria's career.
Despite Holloway's renowned volume striking, Topuria's relentless pressure and precision ultimately overcame him. Topuria noted, "I caught him with many punches... but with that right hand, I felt it.
You don't see that often in Max Holloway."

This victory sets Topuria on a path for potential matchups, with a rematch against Volkanovski appearing most likely.
Volkanovski attended the event and expressed eagerness to accept a fight with Topuria. UFC president Dana White indicated support for this matchup, stating, "We're not going to say no to Volkanovski." Another contender, Diego Lopes, who recently defeated Brian Ortega, is also in the mix for a title shot.
WYOMING WHACKY
A Gillette woman appeared in a Casper courtroom Thursday accused of helping run illegal gambling operations out of coffee shops and a vape store in three Wyoming towns.
A 32-year-old Gillette woman, Hannelore Sue Tolliver, appeared in Casper Circuit Court facing a felony charge of conspiracy to commit professional gambling.
This charge stems from an investigation into an alleged gambling operation run from coffee shops in Casper and Gillette, as well as a vape store in Mills, Wyoming.
The inquiry began after a complaint was filed with the Wyoming Gaming Commission in June 2023, when a woman reported that her son won approximately $7,000 playing the Las Vegas Sweeps game at Mocha Moose in Casper, but the store refused to pay out.
Special agents found that customers could request codes to play online after giving cash to attendants, with only select customers being able to obtain these codes.
The operation was also linked to Double Diamond Vapors, which conducted similar activities. Investigators identified Scott Schroefel, 54, as the alleged owner of the gambling operations.
A January 2024 search warrant at Mocha Moose led to the seizure of documents detailing finances, cash, and Schroefel’s cellphone, along with notes containing login information for illegal gambling platforms.
Text messages between Tolliver and Schroefel revealed their discussions about the operation, indicating attempts to avoid detection.
Tolliver admitted to selling online gambling credits and delivering large sums of cash to Schroefel after his bank account was closed.
Both she and Schroefel face potential three-year prison sentences and fines of $3,000 if convicted.
