Madness End Game

Denver bettor restricted after racking up over $50k of sports bet winnings in just under six weeks.

Welcome back to the Inner Circle Newsletter, where we deliver the top stories in sports and gambling directly to your inbox, every Sunday.

In today's email:

  • Denver Bettor Restricted: after racking up over $50k of sports bet winnings in just under six weeks.

  • Random Selections: gambling father who doesn’t watch sports, placed a random HR parlay and won $20k.

  • March Madness Finals: 95% of money riding on UCONN to win.

Let's gamble...

WINNING TOO MUCH

Restricted Wager

“I was getting up to where I was placing $1,000 bets on a game, $2,000 bets.”

Imagine you log into your favorite betting app amidst a monster winning streak, and as you click ‘enter’ to place your bet the following error pops up:

“The maximum wager we can take for this bet is $16.50”

Well, for one gambler in Denver - this was his reality.

Cody Sudmeier said in a six-week stretch between December and January, he made over $50,000 on various sportsbooks.

That’s when he started noticing something strange happening when he tried placing his bets:

“I was getting up to where I was placing $1,000 bets on a game, $2,000 bets,” said Sudmeier. “And then I go to make the same bet and it says, ‘Oh, you’ve been restricted.”

“At first I thought this can’t be right, you’d think the casinos are typically trying to get you to bet more,” said Sudmeier.

“So, I email customer support, and you get canned responses. You can tell this is something they get a lot, and this is common practice for these guys.”

These bookmaking companies advertise the dream of winning to draw new customers in, however, if they start winning they restrict you?

RANDOM SELECTIONS

“My dad doesn’t watch sports much, but he loves to gamble.”

X User @chriasafair posted on Thursday a $20,000 winning parlay ticket that featured:

  • Miguel Rojas HR

  • Shohei Ohtani HR

  • Jorge Soler HR

The story behind it is even wilder. Apparently his father randomly chose these bets without any prior knowledge of the players - or baseball.

After the mind boggling +20000 odds parlay cashed, users flooded the comment section saying “where can I get his picks for tomorrow’s slate?”

In true Bandit Betting fashion I’d say that win was not luck - that’s hard work and dedication.

PURDUE VS. UCONN FINALE

UCONN

Early action shows public money is on UCONN.

Saturday night was a rollercoaster as Purdue beat NC State 63-50 and UCONN defeated Bama 86-72 to set the stage for the finale.

The finals will be tomorrow Monday April 8th at 9:20 PM EST. Early action is showing 95% of the money is on UCONN who stands at -6 ATS. Here are some other key stats to consider:

  • So far this season, the Huskies have put together a 26-11-0 record against the spread.

  • UConn has been at least a -300 moneyline favorite 21 times this season and won all of those games.

  • The moneyline for this contest implies a 75% chance of a victory for the Huskies.

  • Purdue is 21-15-0 ATS this season.

  • This is the worst odds of a win that sportsbooks have given the Boilermakers this season with a +230 moneyline set for this game.

  • The moneyline set for this matchup implies Purdue has a 30.3% chance of walking away with the win.

The million dollar question: who you got?
