NCAA PLAYER PROPS

ā€œThe question is, are prop markets a positive in College sports?ā€

The rise of legalized sports betting has brought issues, including harassment of athletes by upset bettors.

NCAA President Charlie Baker is asking Congress to ban certain bets to help stop this problem.

Since a 2018 Supreme Court ruling, 38 states and Washington, D.C., have legalized sports betting.

While it’s increased state-government revenue, it’s also led to intrusive ads and angry bettors harassing athletes.

An NCAA study found 12% of abusive messages sent to student-athletes came from bettors.

Baker told the Senate Judiciary Committee that banning prop bets on individual college athletes would reduce harassment.

Thirteen states already ban all player props, and six more restrict them for local college athletes.

The SAFE Bet Act, discussed in the hearing, would ban player props for college athletes, stop "bonus bet" promos, and tighten rules on betting ads.

LIL BABY, BIG LOSSES

ā€œIn one day - I probably lost like $8-9M in 40hoursā€

Lil Baby revealed on Lil Yachty’s A Safe Place Podcast that he lost up to $9 million in about 40 hours at a casino.

ā€œI made myself stop gambling,ā€ he said, explaining he had Fanatics founder Mike Rubin write letters to ban him from casinos.

This isn’t his first big loss—he previously dropped $600,000 gambling with Drake, Meek Mill, James Harden, and Rubin.

ā€œI win all the time. I lose all the time, too,ā€ Lil Baby said of his gambling habits.

On a brighter note, Lil Baby announced his new album, WHAM (Who Hard As Me), releasing January 3, 2025.

It will feature 21 Savage, Future, Young Thug, GloRilla, Rod Wave, and Travis Scott.

Good opportunity for him to recuperate some of those losses…

RIP RICKEY

Rickey Henderson, the greatest leadoff hitter in MLB history dead at 65.

Rickey Henderson, widely regarded as the greatest leadoff hitter and base stealer in MLB history, passed away Friday at the age of 65.

His family confirmed the news, remembering him as a devoted father, husband, and legendary athlete.

The cause of death was not disclosed, but his family expressed gratitude to UCSF hospital staff for their compassionate care.

Henderson's 25-year career redefined baseball with his unmatched speed, power, and charisma. He holds the all-time record for stolen bases (1,406) and single-season steals (130 in 1982).

He also set records for runs scored (2,295) and remains a top figure in MLB history with 111.1 Wins Above Replacement. A 10-time All-Star, he won two World Series titles, was the AL MVP in 1990, and was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2009.

Known for his flamboyant playing style and third-person references, Henderson often defied baseball's traditions.

He celebrated milestones like no other—famously declaring himself "the greatest of all time" after breaking Lou Brock's stolen-base record in 1991.

MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred called Henderson "the gold standard of base stealing and leadoff hitting," noting his lasting impact on the game.

Henderson’s personality and achievements have left a legacy that will continue to inspire players and fans for generations.
