USA v. Canada saw three fights in the first 9-seconds of the game.

Team USA battled past Canada in a physical, emotional showdown, securing a 3-1 win in Montreal and clinching a spot in Thursday’s championship game.

The night started with three fights in nine seconds, setting the tone for an intense, high-stakes matchup.

The Americans built off their dominant win over Finland, showing depth and adaptability with Auston Matthews and Jack Eichel leading the charge while role players like Dylan Larkin stepped up in key moments.

Connor Hellebuyck, last season’s Vezina Trophy winner, delivered a statement performance, shutting down critics who question his ability to win in big moments.

Canada, missing Cale Makar due to illness, struggled to break through despite their talent, while Team USA overcame their own key absence with Quinn Hughes sidelined.

Regardless of any what-ifs, the Americans snapped Canada’s 17-game best-on-best tournament winning streak and head to Boston with confidence and momentum.

Butler, the 58 year old officer, managed to steal money successfully for 3-years before getting caught.

Former Sydney police officer Tracey Lee Butler has been sentenced to at least 18 months in prison after stealing over $200,000 in seized cash to fuel a gambling addiction and pay off debt.

Butler, 58, managed evidence at Mount Druitt Police Station and exploited a lack of proper audits, stealing from over 43 evidence bags between 2017 and 2022.

Her downfall came in 2021 when $18,000 due to be returned to an accused person went missing, triggering a wider investigation that uncovered the missing funds.

Despite initially denying any wrongdoing, Butler eventually pleaded guilty to wilful misconduct in public office.

Judge Guy Newton criticized the lack of oversight at the station, noting that Butler conducted audits alone without supervision, a violation of standard procedures.

However, he dismissed claims that she was unaware of the consequences, emphasizing that she deliberately took advantage of systemic failures to avoid detection.

Butler lost $170,000 gambling during the period of her crimes, with her bank accounts frequently overdrawn.

DRAFTKINGS ‘VIP’

A New York psychiatrist is suing DraftKings for knowingly exploiting her ‘addiction’ via their VIP program.

A new lawsuit filed in New York’s U.S. District Court accuses DraftKings of deliberately targeting gambling addicts through its invite-only VIP program.

Dr. Kavita Fischer, a Pennsylvania psychiatrist, is suing the betting giant for negligence and emotional distress, claiming DraftKings knowingly encouraged her gambling addiction despite clear warning signs.

Fischer says that DraftKings had data showing her deposits skyrocketing—446 deposits totaling over $208,000 in just three months—yet continued offering her VIP perks, including bonuses, free hockey tickets, and casino credits.

She even warned her VIP host in early January that she might need to quit gambling, yet DraftKings allegedly responded by sending her $500 in casino credits.

By March, she was asking the company for a loan to pay her mortgage.

The response? A vague check-in about responsible gambling, followed by six more promotional emails encouraging her to bet.

The lawsuit claims DraftKings intentionally fostered her addiction with incentives, contradicting its stated commitment to responsible gambling.

With the industry handling nearly $120 billion in bets in 2023 and state regulations falling short on consumer protections, lawsuits like this could become more frequent.
